Spark Youth Creativity: results of online contests from 2022 to 2024
- This brochure serves as an overview of the UNICEF’s contests designed, promoted and organized by the U-Report On The Move platform in Italy. Spanning the years from 2022 to the present, these contests are specifically designed to engage and empower young migrants and refugees currently residing in Italy.
The main purpose of these contests is twofold:
1. To provide a platform for the creative expression of these young individuals, and secondly,
2. To make their voice heard on important issues.
Beyond the competitive aspect, these initiatives aim to have a positive social impact on the lives of those undergoing the complex experience of migration.
The contests encourage creative expression among vulnerable adolescents, prompting them to reflect on important themes such as friendship, aspirations, and overcoming challenges. Through various artistic mediums, participants are invited to share their unique perspectives, contributing to a richer dialogue on the realities faced by young migrants and refugees.
A central focus of these initiatives is to explore and define what constitutes a safe space for these adolescents. Recognizing the importance of providing a supportive environment, the contests serve as a medium through which participants can articulate their thoughts and feelings, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Recognition is also one of the important aims of the creative initiatives. The best works in each category are awarded, offering participants the chance to be acknowledged for their creativity and reflections. This recognition can be a game-changer for these young individuals, boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
This pamphlet showcases the organized contests since 2022. It zooms in on selected winning works and sheds light on the multifaceted efforts dedicated to the well-being and inclusion of young migrants and refugees in Italy.
